讲座摘要

Electrochemical energy storage is a key enabler for decarbonizing the energy and transportation sectors. To compete with traditional fossil energy, EC energy storage’s performance and reliability need to be further improved. In this talk, the speaker will present an interdisciplinary program at the intersect of mechanical and materials engineering for achieving the performance and reliability goals. Specifically, the speaker will discuss recent progress in acoustic particle patterning for the manufacturing of battery electrodes with high energy density, rate capability, and longer cycle life; and the rational design and fabrication of supercapacitors for overcoming the energy-power trade-off, and finally the integration of physics models and machine learning for predicting the degradation of lithium-ion batteries.

主讲人简介

Dr. Shan Hu is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University, USA. She obtained her PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Her research interests include electrochemical energy storage and conversion and advanced manufacturing. Her work has been published on journals such as ACS Energy Letters, Nano Letters, Energy Storage Materials, Nano Energy, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, etc. She receives the US National Science Foundation CAREER award, the William and Virginia Binger Professorship, among others.
