讲座摘要
Animals ranging from invertebrates to vertebrates can continuously learn different tasks and form corresponding memories to affect subsequent behaviors. As the living environment is changing, old memories do not always guide behaviors correctly and therefore need to be updated and modified flexibly, which relies on adaptive forgetting. Many new discoveries of biological mechanisms that regulate forgetting come from studies using fruit flies Drosophila melanogaster. I will briefly introduce these findings and share what I have learned in order to promote new thinking about brain health and intelligence.
主讲人简介
Dr. Qian Li’s primary research interests focus on a new research field established in the recent decade: the neurobiology of forgetting. He is dedicated to understanding the different forgetting mechanisms and strategies that the brain employs to adapt the changing, noisy and uncertain environment. Based on the new understanding, he is also exploring its potential applications in human brain health and artificial intelligence. Relevant studies have been published in high-impact journals, including Neuron, PNAS, Current Biology, Aging Cell and Cell Reports.
